Natural Medicine for Children
Children are wonderful. They are, in and of themselves precious, amazing, vibrant. A child has a perspective on herself, and the world around her which is new and fresh. She is growing and changing rapidly, physically, mentally and emotionally. We do our best to protect our children, to nurture and teach them, to assist them to grow and be healthy human beings.
Making choices about a child's health care can be one of the most difficult decisions parents can face. More people are learning about, or rediscovering natural medicine, and as part of this reawakening many parents are turning to natural methods of promoting and preserving their children's health. One common factor in natural medicine is the decision of its followers to take responsibility for their own, and their children's health. This means you work in partnership with your primary health care practitioner.
With the underlying belief in our innate ability to heal, the power of nature to encourage that healing, and treating the whole child -- mind, body and emotions -- Naturopathic Medicine is well suited for children. Naturopathic Medicine includes many healing modalities. The basics, nutrition, exercise, and emotional wellness lay the groundwork for good health. As with conventional medicine, a Naturopathic Physician encourages regular well baby and well child checkups to assess a child's development and health. When problems do arise, we offer many safe, effective treatments for treating injury and illness such as nutritional therapy, physical medicine, homeopathy, botanical medicine (herbs), and applied visualization. Skin conditions, behavioral problems, allergies, digestive complaints and food intolerances, ear aches, eczema and asthma are only some of the conditions that have been successfully treated in children by Naturopathic Medicine.
